Though not always written, I’ve always kept a bit of a list of the cool things I want to do. Passively, I’ve checked some things off over the years but at times I’ve been so focused on work and projects that that list took a back seat. A while back I came across the “Life List” on my buddy Trevor Mauch’s blog. This inspiration lead me to create this page: a written list of the things for which I’d like to make time, a bucket list of sorts.
I’ll add to this list from time to time as I’m inspired and reviewing it will always be a reminder for me to collect experiences, not things.
- Learn to read and speak another language… probably Hebrew. (Currently working on Italian for fun but not taking it very seriously.)
- Live on a boat for a year
- Run a marathon
- Build houses in a third world country, likely with an organized charity
- Ride the MS150, a 150 mile bike race in Texas
- Compete (competitively) in a trap shooting competition
- Be behind the wheel of a car going 200 MPH
- Live on a pretty remote island for a month
- Take vocal lessons and learn to sing
- Write a book on my experiences in real estate and business
- Travel the country in an RV, i.e. spend 1 year + exploring and working from the road
- Consistently read 12 books a year until I die (audio books count)
- Wake up at sunrise and turn off electronics (work related) at sundown for a whole year
- Walk/run part of the great wall of China
- Donate $1,000,000 to charity before I retire or turn 50, whichever comes first
- Have a conversation with Howard Stern
- Speak publicly (and confidently) in front of at least 1,000 people. (I spoke in front of thousands in college once, but I was so nervous that I remember very little from the experience.)
- Create a product that sells 100,000 units.
- Learn to fly a plane
- … (will continue to add to this list)
